Mini Ikebana

$28.00

Ikebana (生け花, 活け花, "arranging flowers" or "making flowers alive") is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It is also known as kadō (華道, "way of flowers"). This is practiced as an art where flowers and other natural elements are placed in such a way as to embody harmony, peace, and beauty.

This cultural activity has origins in Buddhist temples as flowers were used for offerings as far back as the seventh century. Ikebana became an art style in its own right during the 15th century as Buddhist monks began teaching others the rules of their flower arranging in order for others to create arrangements themselves.

I hand built these pieces as a respectful nod to this ancient tradition.

Each vary slightly in measurement and are 3" - 3.5" across.
